The Municipal Regional Theatre of Crete

The Municipal Regional Theatre of Crete developed in 1974 in order to promote the Cretan tradition in theatre. The theatre features gifted artists with a strong will to maintain and transmit the cultural tradition of our region. The main purpose of the Municipal Regional Theatre is to revive the Cretan theatre of the Renaissance. The first play that the theatre performed was "Abraham's Sacrifice" of the great V. Kornaros, directed by Alexis Minotis, who was also the protagonists and the founder of the theatre. The vision of the Municipal Regional Theatre is realized every year with great performances from Cretan plays such as "Erotokritos", "Kouros", Erofyli", ect. At the same time, the theatre also participates and organizes other cultural events all over Crete, such as concerts, seminars and classes.
