The Old Customs Station

In the plateau "Katehaki", between the "Grand Arsenal" and the "Neoria", the Old Customs Station was built in the later years. It is a large oblong building that hosted the Customs Services for several decades, but it was also used as a storage space for the commercial commodities and machineries.
After the conversion of the port of Chania to a marina for small boats and since the large ferries and commercial ships were moved to the port of Souda, the Customs Station was also moved there.
The building of the Old Customs Station was assigned to the Municipality and is now used as a cultural space for exhibitions and events and it is supervised by the Municipal Cultural Enterprise of Chania.
There are plans to use the building as a multi-cultural center of the Municipality in the future.
