Turkish Bath-Hamam (Zampeliou & Douka)

This hamam is located on the corner of the streets Zampeliou and Douka in the old city of Chania. It is preserved in very good conditions through restoration works and additions. It is a building with six semi-circular vaults without drum. An extra floor was added later. The relatively simple and humble appearance of its exterior is commonplace in Turkish hamams. The bell-shaped "glass eyes" on the vaults are the only light sources, along with the three arched windows on the northwest part of the building. Nowadays, the hamam is the property of the Ministry of Culture.
